J. SPRINGER - AFTER DINER SHOW, 2005

Pedro Nelson Soares' painting makes use of symbols of contemporary culture, such as the reality-show Jerry Springer, with the purpose of criticizing consumer society and the easy-viewing entertainment TV. This sarcasm is here reinforced through the reproduction of Springfield's aftershave package design. This product, a skin smoother, is used as an ironical counterpart to the consumption of such programs. Through the judgment of the reality of others, the spectator anaesthetizes and calms his own daily living.
