Joana Jorge

AUTO CORTES, 2004

What Joana Jorge proposes in Auto Cortes is an instruction manual about how to act in several different situations. The painting incorporates a set of images, small narratives, which are like the functional and operational images that accompany the packaging of countless products in daily use. The canvas becomes a space for an inventory of movements that, now being decontextualised, lose all meaning. Joana Jarge only draws the outlines of the images, with slight use of color, mirroring the economy that is characteristic to this type of images.
