Hugo Canoilas

LONDON PAINTINGS, 2004/5

In London Paintings Hugo Canoilas advances a series of proposals on new ways to consider painting. Must a painting be seen only as the artist intervention on a canvas or can the variations of color brought over an aluminium plaque by the reflection of the sun also be considered painting? What the artist suggests are mere interrogations, never answers, placing art on the sphere of questioning and conceptualization, rather than simple objecthood of the work of art.
