José Lourenço

UNTITLED, 2005

A landscape through a rear view mirror is always the image of a dissimulated reality. This simulation gains the shape of a painting inside the painting. The detail becomes the central element around which the entire work is organized. The technique of José Lourenço is of an absolute formal correction, with simplified use of a uniform, plain and rigorous color. The world as seen through the eyes of the artist seems to leap off a computer game, singular in its coldness and silence.
